Stalking Jack The Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco

“Presented by James Patterson’s new children’s imprint, this deliciously creepy horror novel has a storyline inspired by the Ripper murders and an unexpected, blood-chilling conclusion…

Seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth was born a lord’s daughter, with a life of wealth and privilege stretched out before her. But between the social teas and silk dress fittings, she leads a forbidden secret life.

Against her stern father’s wishes and society’s expectations, Audrey often slips away to her uncle’s laboratory to study the gruesome practice of forensic medicine. When her work on a string of savagely killed corpses drags Audrey into the investigation of a serial murderer, her search for answers brings her close to her own sheltered world.

The story’s shocking twists and turns, augmented with real, sinister period photos, will make this dazzling, #1 New York Times bestselling debut from author Kerri Maniscalco impossible to forget.” ~ Description from Goodreads

My Review

I found Hunting Prince Dracula (book 2 in this series) in the bargain book section of the bookstore and HAD TO buy it of course because this series has been on my TBR for a long time now. Well buying book 2 gave me the PERFECT excuse to FINALLY buy Stalking Jack The Ripper and dive right in.

I love historical fiction! Therefore a YA historical fiction featuring Jack The Ripper had to be gold right? RIGHT! I have always loved the mystery surrounding The Ripper and this book did not disappoint! I was an interesting with a unique take of this point in history.

This book is GORY and GRUESOME! The perfect thing I needed to kickstart all my October reads. It was bloody, detailed and precise. I LOVED IT! The more twisted and in your face the better in my opinion but then again I’m twisted like that. Some of the scenes where awesomely horrific.

I loved the main character Audrey Rose. She is strong-willed and extremely intelligent. I loved her obsession with forensic sciences and medical dissection. Maybe because these where some of my favorite things in med school and I can relate? I love how she doesn’t back down from the men in her life that like to boss her around. (It is the 1800’s after all).

Speaking of likable characters, I just want to say that I am in love with Thomas Cresswell. He is absolutely brilliant! I love his dialogue! I wanted to both smack him and kiss him all at the same time. ROFL! I loved his blunt, straight forward way of speaking. He is observant and intelligent. Just over all a really great, super interesting, character.

It was fairly easy to figure out who Jack The Ripper was but that ending threw me for a loop!! I wasn’t expecting it to go down like that. Very dark story. Well written mystery. Quite a few twists and turns. Recommended read 100% and I cant wait to dive into the next book.
