The Dwarf Did It...

The Moon Shines Red

The Moon Shines Red by Pamela Sparkman

“Lord Lochlan was cursed in the womb, condemned by the perceived crimes of his parents. On the thirteenth year of his birth, the red glow of the moon washed over land and sea like a faded bloody stain. Everything was bathed in it, including him. A constant reminder of the curse that marked him before he was born. Every night he gazed at it like he was lured and haunted by it. It followed him, it beseeched him. It called out to him. Just once he wanted to see the moon glow as everyone else saw it. Bright and illuminating. But he knew that would never be possible.

The all too familiar feeling of despair suffocated him, like long gangly fingers squeezing his neck, cutting off his air. He fell to his knees and begged for the sky to fall on him. He had suffered long and tirelessly and he was desperate for it to end. And yet, he fought to breathe. He fought to stand back on his feet. Because fighting back was as instinctual to him as breathing. He had come too far to let his loneliness and despair get the best of him now. He was battle worn and weary, but he still had a reason to live.

Or so he hoped.

He stood back on his feet and he fought against the doom that hovered over him since the day he was born and he stared up into the darkened sky.

At the moon that shines red only for him.

I should have stayed away from him. But I couldn’t.
HE was my love…my life. And he just might kill me.
So I guess that means…he may also be my end. ” ~ Description from Goodreads

I won this book off a Goodreads giveaway a few months ago BUT I am just not getting to my review because well…. I just got around to reading it. People who know me and follow my blog know that: 1) Yes, I have a Kindle and 2) No, I don’t like to use it. I’m a physical hard copy book kind of gal….

Anywhooooo…. I read this book and I liked it. And it was an e-book. The only problem with talking about this book not giving anything away. Again, people who know/follow me know I DESPISE/HATE/LOATHE spoilers so let me sit on this for a second……

This book is a romance but in my opinion it is a must read romance. There is a lot of focus on the story that characters because….well….. because of Lochlan’s curse. He can’t touch anybody so this isn’t your typical kissy kissy touchy touchy romance.  Even though this book is a series (Heart of Darkness is the series name) there is an ending with no HUGE cliff hangers. Now, even though I have said that, if you liked this book as much as I do you will be after the second book, A Monster Like Me (Heart Of Darkness #2), ASAP (which luck for me and everyone else is out already! Released on 9/4/18). It will continue on with this amazing story… But it’s Zeph’s story. Zeph is easily the best character in The Moon Shines Red.

Overall: great story, likable characters, has a nice flow and feel to it.

Meh… This is such a crappy review BUT this is a 4 star read in my opinion. I’m just trying not to give anything away. This is one of those books where every piece of information is part of the riddle and back story.

You wont want to miss this book though, I can promise you that!

One cool thing about the e-book version is the special content at the end, THIS BOOK HAS A PLAYLIST!! And a great one at that. Books and Music = LIFE (with a side of wine of course). Of course I fangirl over any book I love that has a playlist!! Check out the Spotify link below for The Moon Shines Red playlist

Of course (as always) to pick up a copy for yourself or to check out this book a little more click on the link below to head over to Amazon. This book is available in paperback and e-book formats
