The Dwarf Did It...

Children Of Blood And Bone

Children of Blood and Bone (Legacy of Orïsha #1) by Tomi Adeyemi

“They killed my mother.
They took our magic.
They tried to bury us.

Now we rise.

Zélie Adebola remembers when the soil of Orïsha hummed with magic. Burners ignited flames, Tiders beckoned waves, and Zélie’s Reaper mother summoned forth souls.

But everything changed the night magic disappeared. Under the orders of a ruthless king, maji were killed, leaving Zélie without a mother and her people without hope.

Now Zélie has one chance to bring back magic and strike against the monarchy. With the help of a rogue princess, Zélie must outwit and outrun the crown prince, who is hell-bent on eradicating magic for good.

Danger lurks in Orïsha, where snow leoponaires prowl and vengeful spirits wait in the waters. Yet the greatest danger may be Zélie herself as she struggles to control her powers and her growing feelings for an enemy.” ~ Description from Goodreads

I must say…. I’m wowed by this book. I’m not going to lie, it took me a LONG time to read this book. I started it back in July and I just now finished it. At first it really reminded me of Avatar: The Last Airbender but set in a fictional African world so I put it aside and read other things the last few months. This book kept calling to me. Summoning me back to its pages. So like the good little book worm I am I tried again picking up where I left off.

I AM SO GLAD I CAME BACK TO THIS BOOK! Somewhere along the way this transformed into an amazing and beautiful story that is seriously on a level of ts own. Orïsha and everything in and on it is just perfect! All of the characters are very well-developed. The plot twists held my interest hostage the past few days. The last 5 pages of this book was an emotional roller coaster! How am I suppose to wait until the next book comes out? Children of Blood and Bone is a very special series. I  almost want to say this is some Harry Potter shit…. I’ve heard rumors that there is a movie in the works… I hope this is true. Let me see if I can find this info….. (*** see below***)

I am giving this book 5 stars and throwing it up there with my favorite fantasy series. Same shelf as HP and Caraval!!

If you haven’t already picked up a copy of this book DO IT NOW! Don’t wait any longer! You don’t want to miss a moment of this series! Click the link to snag yours today!
