The Dwarf Did It...

Down The TBR Hole (#5)

980x

Picking up where I left off: 40/1145 (now 1214) <—- I got attacked by Goodreads giveaways…. oops

Here is a quick recap of this challenge:

  1. Log into Goodreads and open your TBR shelf ( Not going to lie… I try to avoid mine)
  2. Put the books on your TBR shelf in ascending order BY DATE. I don’t see where the rules specify release date or date added so I’m going to go with date added.
  3. Look at the first 5 or more books (I’ll be using increments of 10)
  4. Read the description of each book
  5. Decide if you want to keep it or “toss” it

Do this once a week and just pick up where you left off the last time. This challenge was created by Lost In A Story and I stumbled across it from Phinne The Ginger Bookworm. Be sure to follow them!

Corey knows something is wrong. With every hour, her suspicion grows. Lost is keeping secrets―chilling secrets. But piecing together the truth about what happened to her best friend may prove as difficult as lighting the sky in an Alaskan winter…

by Dannika Dark

When a Russian Shifter offers her a job in his covert organization hunting outlaws, dignity and a respectable career are finally within her grasp. The catch? Her new partner is Christian Poe – a smug, handsome Vampire whom she’d rather stake than go on a stakeout with. They’re hot on the trail of a human killer who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. One misstep during her probationary period could jeopardize Raven’s chance at redemption, and her partner would love nothing more than to see her fail. Will Raven find the courage to succeed, or will she give in to her dark nature?

Dark secrets, unexpected twists, and a blurred line between good and evil will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Decision: TOSS! Unfortunately I’m tossing this one. It sounds great but I already follow too many series as it is. I might add it back one day.

Ain't She a Peach? (Southern Eclectic, #2)

Ain’t She a Peach? (Southern Eclectic #2)

by Molly Harper

An Atlanta ex-cop comes to sleepy Lake Sackett, Georgia, seeking peace and quiet—but he hasn’t bargained on falling for Frankie, the cutest coroner he’s ever met.

Frankie McCready talks to dead people. Not like a ghost whisperer or anything—but it seems rude to embalm them and not at least say hello.

Fortunately, at the McCready Family Funeral Home & Bait Shop, Frankie’s eccentricities fit right in. Lake Sackett’s embalmer and county coroner, Frankie’s goth styling and passion for nerd culture mean she’s not your typical Southern girl, but the McCreadys are hardly your typical Southern family. Led by Great-Aunt Tootie, the gambling, boozing, dog-collecting matriarch of the family, everyone looks out for one another—which usually means getting up in everyone else’s business.

Maybe that’s why Frankie is so fascinated by new sheriff Eric Linden…a recent transplant from Atlanta, he sees a homicide in every hunting accident or boat crash, which seems a little paranoid for this sleepy tourist town. What’s he so worried about? And what kind of cop can get a job with the Atlanta PD but can’t stand to look at a dead body?

Frankie has other questions that need answering first—namely, who’s behind the recent break-in attempts at the funeral home, and how can she stop them? This one really does seem like a job for the sheriff—and as Frankie and Eric do their best Scooby-Doo impressions to catch their man, they get closer to spilling some secrets they thought were buried forever.

Decision: TOSS! The description to this didn’t captivate me like it did the first time.
