The Dwarf Did It...

Strange and Unusual (OwlCrate July 2018)

What’s the best day of the month? Owl Crate day of course! I got my July box about a week ago and it’s pretty cool this month. The theme for July was Strange and Unusual. Let’s just go ahead and dive right in!!

^ So first off, I’m kind of in love with the spoiler postcard for this month. I love all things occult and Poe! Definitely a cool print to add to the collection. (Yes I do collect these lol)

^ Owl Crate comes with a pin every month. These pins ALWAYS feature a piece of the artwork from the themed spoiler card for that box. This month’s pin is my favorite one so far.

^ STAY PECULIAR! Totally not has to accomplish over here. This pennant flag is awesome and inspired by Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children. Speaking of…. I still need to pick up the 4th book in this series.

^ The next item in the July box was a key chain from Stranger Things. With this item you received either Dustin or Eleven. As we can see, I got the Dustin Funko. I have only seen a few episodes of Stranger Things (didn’t really get into it), but from what I HAVE seen I did like this character so I’m happy with it.

^ This next item is probably my favorite in this box. As I stated before, I love all things occult, strange, magical, etc…. These Ouija board mints come in a keepsake tin which is cool. They taste good and the mints are even shaped like little Ouija cursors!

^ I know…. I know…. This is a terrible picture. I absolutely adore these push pins though. They were made specifically for this month’s box and are a close second in the running for my favorite item. I have a slight skull obsession. Slight as in skulls are all over my house. These little guys are going to be perfect in my office at the new house when I mount a cork board. You can’t tell in this pic, but the stars in the skull’s eye are green and really pop. Super cute.

^ Here we have the “big-ticket” item for the month of July. This clutch wallet is PERFECT. The depth of it allows the space for all the crap chicks need without it being over stuffed. It is inspired by the Raven Boys and the quote is pretty awesome. I love the colors of it too. I didn’t realize how bad i needed a blue wallet until I got this one. It feels heavy-duty and durable. I’m moving into it this week and going to put it to the test. Im not a girly girl so this wallet is going to take a beating. Im sure it will hold up though.

^ I love the thick vinyl stickers Owl Crate sometimes features in their boxes. They are always unique. This one is adorable and features Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter by the artist TJ Lubrano.

^ This is an absolutely beautiful and whimsical art print by Aun-Juli Riddle. It is definitely worthy of a frame to be displayed in once my new library/office is set up. (I’m moving soon FYI hence all the comment about my new space to work on Booze and Books).

^ The book for the month of July was My Plain Jane. This cover is exclusive to Owl Crate (the cover in stores is blue with yellow print). It included a letter from the authors and was actually signed by all  three authors. According to the spoiler card, this is a retelling of Jane Eyre with a possible haunting and a trip through the Victorian occult… It had me at Victorian and occult. I wont be reading this book right away. I’m going to save it for the month of October. Halloween is my favorite holiday and will be a perfect time to read this story.

^ My Plain Jane came with a diorama coloring contest. I had this insane (not so good idea) to use my watercolor pens to do this project. The paper it is made out of DID NOT like water colors AT ALL! At least I ended up with some “Strange and Unusual” wallpaper… The coloring contest for this ends on August 31st and the reward is a free Owl Crate. You can also win free Owl Crates by doing the photo challenges with the items at the times listed every month. I always forget to do them but I did submit my diorama on Instagram! Wish me luck! I’m not holding my breath though. Lesson learned….. No watercolor if there is another COLORING contest. LoL.

^ Last but not least, the theme for August is Ruthless Royals. This box will include things from some awesome fandoms such as the Cruel Prince and the Belles. I’m pretty excited for this box because Owl Crate NEVER EVER disappoints.
