The Dwarf Did It...

Fight Like A Girl (OwlCrate 05/2018)

ALRIGHT! So I received my OwlCrate for May about a week ago. The theme for May was “Fight Like A Girl”. I want to start by saying LOOK AT THE POST CARD ART! I’m so in love with it. #1 because Im a red-head. #2 I love vikings (not as much as pirates, but vikings are in second place with witches coming in 3rd).

My thoughts on this box before we dive in: I felt like the Items themselves were lacking compared to previous boxes BUT BUT BUT this box did have TWO full length books in it this month and rumor has it next month’s box is going to be jam-packed! Lets dive in starting with the spoiler card….

(Sorry for the glare. It was shiny and no matter what I did, my lighting was relentless)

First item up was this double-sided bookmark with some awesome quotes. The come from The Wrath and The Dawn and the Flame in the Mist. (which I have not read) But I love this bookmark. My favorite is the dark side saying “If I am marching to my death, then I will march to it as a girl. Without fear”. Totally fits the them for this box and I can totally imagine the girl on the postcard art doing just that. I’m using this bookmark now and it’s holding up pretty well to my abuse.

Pins, pins, and more pins…. This is where my comment about the box “kind of lacking” came from. This month’s crate had THREE pins. So Owl Crate always has their own pin in every box. It has a piece of the post card art and on the sides says which box it was. The brass looking pin above the Owl Crate one actually came with the featured boo this month. Its metal and pretty heavy. I like weight to pins. The actual pin ITEM was from Out of Stock. It is Harry Potter themed. “When in doubt, go to the library.” Totally Hermione Granger right there. I loved it. Plus she is a perfect heroine to feature in a box themed Fight Like A Girl.

Next we had an art piece. I’m sorry but my pic just doesn’t do it justice (I should contemplate video blogging)…. (scratch that idea I have a pirate mouth lol). ANYWHO…. This is a picture of Inej from Six of Crows. I love her name by the way. I started the Six of Crows duology a few weeks ago but couldn’t get into it. Not because I don’t like it….. I just can’t emotionally commit to a new series with Legendary about to come out. It will be nice to have a face to a character though when I do go back to it.

BATH BOMB! I love bath bombs and will actually have a bomb post (more about that in my May recap post). The color and smell of this was inspired by Children of Blood and Bone. I like the black and gold paint swipes across the top. Kind of like warriors. It smells mostly like coconuts to me. Cant wait to use it. Maybe ill do it tonight and then do that bath bomb review.

The “big-ticket” item in this box, outside of the featured book, was this wall handing. Its printed on a black canvas and has the wood ends for weight. This is my favorite item. It is inspired by A Court of Thorns and Roses. I’ll be hanging it next to my work computer when I move so I can look at it and have that boost.

Here we have the bonus book this month. It is a full length novel and sounds awesome. WITCHES! We hit my #2 and #3 favorite things in this box. This book has amazing reviews and im excited to read it. Owl Crate actually has their own book club where they read the books as a community and discuss them. I joined a month or so ago but I havent participated yet because im always reading other things. I seriously considering trying it out with this book.

Sky in the Deep was the featured book for May and what the Fight Like a Girl theme was based around. Here we have VIKINGS! As always, the featured book is an exclusive edition and is signed by the author. I always treasure special edition signed books and im overly excited to add this book to my collection. I even have a viking candle to burn, complements of my book partner in crime, while I read it.

PREVIEW: The theme for June is Summer Lovin and the sneak peek item is some tea with pretty cool names. I’m excited for this because I love hot tea and the Bone Coffee Co. Owl Crate featured in another box was AMAZING. I also saw an email saying that there will be a really nice wooden bookmark in June’s box. We’ll see if that comes to pass. June is going to be the month to sign up! Word on the street is it is going to contain some items never before seen in an Owl Crate. When watching the live unboxing for May with the creators, they also stated that the June box is so packed they were worried it wouldn’t close!! Im super stoked!!

Like what you seen in this box? Have you seen the items in my previous Owl Crate posts? This box NEVER disappoints. Get in on the monthly dose of happiness. SIGN UP USING THE LINK BELOW! It’s like Christmas once a month.
