Midnight Magic by Jo-Ann Carson
“As the janitor in a haunted house, single mom Abby Jenkins has many contacts with the living and the dead in the small Pacific Northwest town of Sunset Cove, which puts her in a perfect position to solve local mysteries. Or so she thinks. Hired to find diamonds hidden in a haunted manor she gets help from a Viking ghost with existential issues. Will she survive? This book contains bad-boy ghosts, mischievous magic, and a woman who knows what she wants in a Viking hayloft.” – Goodreads, back cover description.
I liked this book but I hate to say I didn’t love this book. It was quick to read. Short and light. It was very easy to follow having not read the previous series (this book is a spin-off). The plot of the story was ok, a little rushed at times in my opinion, but I wasn’t into the characters as much as I had hoped. A Viking ghost named Eric…. Reminds me of a certain Viking vampire named Eric from True Blood a.k.a The Southern Vampire Mysteries for a book enthusiast sure as myself (I read and watched all of it by the way)…. Good story but nothing about it stood out as unique to me.
